GPT5 And Other Projects
Catching You Up
It’s been a whirlwind of a week—apologies for no newsletter last week. I was in Michigan visiting my family, and it was a much-needed break. Now I’m back, and there’s a lot happening at Techopolis Online Solutions that I’m excited to share.
Streaming Fridays on YouTube
Starting now, every Friday afternoon I’ll be going live on my YouTube channel. These are real-time streams where you’ll see coding, product builds, and what’s going on behind the scenes at Techopolis.

I’m on a mission to hit 900 subscribers, so if you haven’t subscribed yet, please do and share it with friends who might enjoy it.
Today’s Live Session – Day 2: Building Beyond the Gallery Web with GPT-5 and Cursor
Today at 12:30 PM CT I’ll be streaming “Day 2: Building Beyond the Gallery Web Live with GPT-5 and Cursor.”
For those new to it, Beyond the Gallery is a platform where you can discover, share, and get Apple Shortcuts that aren’t in Apple’s official Shortcuts Gallery. The web version is already live, but we’re revamping it for:
- New features that make Shortcuts easier to find
- Better accessibility
- Smoother discovery and install process
During today’s stream, I’ll continue building with Django, GPT-5, and Cursor, focusing on:
- Backend and front-end improvements from Day 1
- New features and accessibility upgrades
- Preparing the app for live deployment on Heroku
- Performance, accessibility, and overall user experience

GPT-5: My Early Impressions
I love GPT-5—it’s faster, more accurate, better at reasoning, and much stronger at coding than its predecessors. It’s now available in ChatGPT for all users with usage limits, while Plus and Pro subscribers get higher quotas.
OpenAI also showcased GPT-5’s coding capabilities across multiple platforms in their recent livestream.
GPT-5 in Cursor (Not GitHub Copilot)
Right now, Cursor is giving free access to GPT-5 inside its AI-powered IDE. This isn’t about GitHub Copilot—it’s Cursor directly integrating GPT-5 for advanced prompting, intelligent code generation, and real-time coding help. GitHub Copilot has not made GPT-5 available for free yet, so if you want to try GPT-5 in your coding workflow without paying, Cursor is your best bet for the moment.
Windsurf Joins the GPT-5 Party
Windsurf (formerly Codeium) is also offering free GPT-5 access inside its AI-native IDE. Windsurf is built for “vibe coding”—keeping developers in flow with features like real-time web search, autogenerated memory, and integrated tooling for languages, containers, and SSH.
They’ve also developed their own SWE-1 model family, with lighter versions free for everyone and the full SWE-1 reserved for paid plans. Windsurf was even part of a high-profile acquisition saga—OpenAI tried to buy them for $3 billion, Google licensed their tech for $2.4 billion, and Cognition Labs eventually picked up the remaining assets.
The result: Windsurf is still here, evolving quickly, and now letting you test GPT-5 without cost for a limited time.

Coming Soon: GPT-5 Deep Dive Blog
I’ll be publishing a detailed blog post soon about GPT-5—covering my workflow changes, why it’s a leap forward, and how tools like Cursor and Windsurf are making it even more accessible.
That’s all for this week. Hope to see you in today’s livestream at 12:30 PM CT.
